Rich Kidd

Rich Kidd, born Ritchie Acheampong in 1987, is a prominent Canadian hip-hop recording artist, record producer, and film/video director hailing from Toronto, Ontario. Achieving recognition with two Juno Award nominations for Rap Recording of the Year as a solo artist in 2013 and 2014, Rich Kidd's collaborative project, Naturally Born Strangers, earned them the Juno Award for Rap Recording of the Year in 2015.

Noteworthy in the hip-hop scene, Rich Kidd's production credits include collaborations with artists like Busta Rhymes, Billy Danze, K-os, and Drake. In 2009, his work on "We On Some Rich Kidd Shit Vol. 3" featured the track "The Search" with Drake and Saukrates. His contributions extended to the festival stage, performing at the Canadian Hip Hop festival Manifesto in 2010.

Beyond his musical endeavors, Rich Kidd expanded his artistic repertoire, making his directorial debut with the semi-biographical short film "Trespassing" and debuting his solo single "Take It Slow." His diverse talents led to accolades such as a Juno Award nomination for his collaboration on Shad's album and multiple nominations at the Stylus awards.

Rich Kidd's influence in the industry garnered praise from Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z's engineer, Young Guru. His instrumental mixtape "Kiddstrumentals" and studio album "The Closers" in 2012 solidified his position, earning him Juno nominations and recognition in the hip-hop community. In 2013, his solo project "In My Opinion" received a Juno Award nomination.

Expanding into film and media, Rich Kidd hosted documentaries for Noisey and Vice Media in 2014, exploring Indigenous hip-hop in Canada. A notable highlight came in 2015 when Rich Kidd, alongside Adam Bomb and Tona, won the Juno Award for Best Rap Recording, surpassing Drake's protege P. Reign. Rich Kidd's multifaceted career also includes acting, with a role in the film "Filth City" in 2017, while actively contributing to the community arts sector as the Recording Arts program leader of The Remix Project.
