Campus is Beatcave’s ongoing, hands-on training ground for serious music creatives. Every month we focus on one pillar of the craft, bring in industry pros to teach what actually works, and give students a video library so they can rewatch key moves until they stick. Up next: November is Sync Licensing Month, January is the business of the music industry with the practical playbook to navigate it, and February returns to Music Production with multi-platinum producers breaking down the sessions behind their most influential records.
Spotlight: Dub Shakes
We’re closing this month’s Vocal Production series with William “Dub Shakes” Shakespeare. He is a Los Angeles based producer, engineer, mixer, and songwriter with deep experience on both sides of the glass. His background spans more than a decade in pro audio, working in Pro Tools and Ableton, mixing and mastering records, and developing artists end to end. Beyond engineering, Dub Shakes has built a catalogue as an artist and collaborator, with recent releases on Apple Music and other platforms that show his range from hard-hitting rap to melodic, vocal-forward production. He’s also hired as a studio mixer and mastering engineer for independent and label clients, bringing a clean vocal chain, commercial polish, and practical workflows that translate in the real world.
Why this matters
Strong vocals win. Whether you’re pitching for sync, chasing editorial playlists, or converting casual listeners to fans, the vocal is where belief happens. This month our Campus students have collected real, repeatable techniques they can apply immediately. Because everything is recorded and added to our Campus video library, students can revisit the key moments on their own time and keep levelling up.
