Below are 33 current Canadian music funding opportunities from the late-August 2026 roundup, organized by region. Deadlines can move and programs can close when funds are exhausted, so always review the official program page before applying.
National Funding
1. FACTOR – Live Performance
General Artists: September 1 & December 1 | Artist 2 & 3: Rolling
Up to $37,500 combined for Artist 3, up to $32,500 for Artist 2, and up to $12,500 for General Artists. Covers up to 75% of eligible touring and showcase costs. General Artists: September 1 is the next intake. Apply at least 1 day before your tour or show start date.
2. FACTOR – Juried Sound Recording (Album)
Deadline: September 10, 2026 | Now Open
Up to $30,000 toward album recording and production costs. Open to General and Artist 2 rated artists, as well as Record Label 2 and 3 companies. Applications are now open, so get your materials in before September 10.
3. FACTOR – Collective Initiatives
Deadlines: September 10, 2026 & January 14, 2027
Up to $200,000 covering 50% of eligible project costs. For approved Collective Initiatives Applicants and music organizations running large-scale industry events, conferences, or programs. Two intakes are available this fiscal year.
4. FACTOR – Sponsorship
Deadlines: September 17, 2026 & January 21, 2027
Up to $30,000 for music events taking place December 1, 2026 through March 31, 2027. Open to approved Sponsorship Applicants and music organizations. Two intake periods are available, with September 17 covering events in the earlier window.
5. Canada Council – Arts Across Canada: Circulation & Touring
Deadline: October 7, 2026
Funds touring and exhibition activities by Canadian artists, artistic groups, and organizations, helping build national exposure and reach Canadian audiences. Activities must cover 3 or more Canadian destinations at least 250 km from your departure point, or fewer destinations with a strong market development rationale.
6. FACTOR – Support for Eligible Music Companies
Business Development: October 22, 2026 | Business Travel: Rolling
For Artist Managers (2 & 3), Record Labels (2 & 3), and Music Publishers (2 & 3). Business Development funding covers strategic growth projects with a fixed October 22 deadline. Business Travel funding is available on a rolling basis throughout the year.
7. FACTOR – Video
Rolling | Submit before January 14, 2027
Up to $30,000 covering 50% of eligible video production costs. Open to Artist 2 and Artist 3 rated artists. January 14, 2027 is the final date to submit for the current fiscal year, so plan your production timeline accordingly.
8. SOCAN Foundation – Travel Assistance
Rolling | Apply before the activity start date
$400 to $1,000 to help SOCAN member composers, writers, and publishers travel to showcases, residencies, workshops, or award presentations. Tours, album recording, and business meetings are not eligible. Applicants must have received SOCAN royalties in each of the past 2 calendar years.
9. SOCAN Foundation – Professional Development Assistance
Rolling | Open February through October
Supports SOCAN member songwriters, composers, and lyricists pursuing workshops, masterclasses, mentorships, or other structured professional development activities. Apply before your activity begins.
10. Canada Council – Explore & Create: Artistic Creation
Rolling | Apply before your project start date
Supports the creation of artistic work from initial concept through public presentation, including development, production, and sharing of new music at any stage of the creative process. Do not start your project before receiving a decision because Canada Council will not fund work already underway.
11. Canada Council – Arts Across Canada: Micro-grants
Rolling | Apply before your project or travel start date
Smaller project grants supporting the professional growth and advancement of artists, arts workers, groups, and organizations. Covers activities including career development, professional development travel, and outreach.
12. Canada Council – Arts Across Canada: Representation & Promotion
Rolling | Apply before departure date
Up to $30,000 in travel funding for Canadian arts organizations that formally represent Canadian artists, either building on existing tours or developing new Canadian arts markets. Open to management organizations, agencies, and arts service organizations. Travel must be at least 300 km from departure.
13. Canada Council – Arts Across Canada: International Residencies
Rolling | Apply before your residency start date
Project grants supporting Canadian artists, arts workers, artistic groups, and organizations to attend a residency abroad. Helps build international networks, deepen artistic practice, and develop new creative relationships with foreign partners.
14. Canada Council – Arts Across Canada: Public Outreach
Rolling | Apply before project start date
Funds activities that build connections between artists and diverse Canadian audiences, including live events, publications, knowledge-sharing, and public development initiatives. Open to artistic groups, organizations, and national arts service organizations, including music organizations.
15. Canada Council – Supporting Artistic Practice: Sector Support, Innovation & Development
Rolling | Apply before project start date
Funds projects that encourage and support the ongoing growth and development of the arts sector. Relevant to music organizations, industry associations, and arts professionals pursuing initiatives that strengthen the Canadian music ecosystem, including research, capacity-building, or innovative sector-level models.
British Columbia
16. Creative BC – Career Development
Deadline: September 9, 2026 at 4:00 pm PDT
Up to $10,000 for emerging BC-based artists and up to $30,000 for established artists, covering sound recording, music video, and marketing projects at 75% of eligible expenses. Applications are evaluated by a panel of industry professionals.
17. Creative BC – Record in BC
Now Open | Rolling until October 30, 2026
Attracts established out-of-province and international artists to record at B.C. studios with B.C. producers. This program is specifically for non-BC-based artists coming into BC to record. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until October 30 or until funding is exhausted.
18. Creative BC – Live Music
Opens August 26 | Deadline: October 7, 2026
Supports BC-based artists and organizations presenting live music, including touring and event production costs. Applications open August 26 with a fixed October 7 deadline.
19. Creative BC – Music Industry Initiatives (AmplifyBC)
Rolling until October 30, 2026
$2,000 to $60,000 covering up to 75% of eligible project costs. Open to individuals and music companies active in BC's music industry. Individuals and companies without externally prepared financials are capped at $20,000.
Ontario
20. Toronto Arts Council – Music Creation & Audio Recording
Deadline: September 3, 2026
Up to $15,000 for individual Toronto-based artists. Creation projects can receive up to $10,000, demos or EPs up to $8,000, and full-length albums up to $15,000. TAC funds up to 50% of total eligible costs. Open to artists in any genre.
21. Ontario Arts Council – Music Creation Projects
Deadline: September 10, 2026
For Ontario-based individual music artists and collaborations. Supports the creation of new musical works and professional development activities. Applicants must be Ontario residents.
22. Ontario Arts Council – Music Production & Presentation
Deadline: September 17, 2026
For Ontario-based music artists and organizations. Covers costs related to recording, production, and presenting music publicly.
23. Ontario Arts Council – Music Recording Projects
Deadline: November 5, 2026
For Ontario-based music artists. Focused specifically on recording projects including studio albums, EPs, and related production.
Alberta
24. Alberta Foundation for the Arts – Music Individual Project Funding
Deadlines: September 1, 2026 & March 1, 2027
Up to $18,000 for individual artists based in Alberta. Covers recording, production, marketing, training, and research projects. Two intakes are available this fiscal year.
25. Edmonton Arts Council – Individuals & Collectives

26. Calgary Arts Development – Artist Development Microgrant

Quick-access funding for Calgary-based artists in any discipline, including music. Awarded by lottery from eligible applications, with a streamlined process designed to be accessible for artists at any career stage.
Saskatchewan
27. Creative Saskatchewan – Sound Recording Grant
Deadlines: September 23, 2026 & January 13, 2027 at 4:00 PM SK time
Up to $15,000 for Saskatchewan-based artists and music businesses with commercially viable recordings. EP or single projects can receive up to $10,000, and full-length LPs up to $15,000. The 4:00 PM Saskatchewan time cutoff is strict.
28. Creative Saskatchewan – Tour Support Grant
Deadlines: September 23, 2026 & January 13, 2027 at 4:00 PM SK time
Up to $15,000 for Saskatchewan-based artists touring across Canada or internationally. The 4:00 PM Saskatchewan time cutoff is strictly enforced.
Québec
29. MusicAction – Album Production (Production d'un album)
Deadline: September 2, 2026
Supports francophone Canadian music producers and artists with album recording, production, and release costs. For Quebec-based or francophone Canadian music companies and self-produced artists.
30. MusicAction – National Marketing (Commercialisation nationale)
Deadline: September 2, 2026 | Promotion & Stage Activities
Two components share this deadline. Vol. 1 supports promotion and marketing campaigns for francophone Canadian releases. Vol. 2 supports live performance activities including touring, showcases, and festivals.
31. MusicAction – Singles & Emergence Programs
Deadline: September 2, 2026
Two programs share this deadline. Production et promotion de titres covers single releases and their promotional campaigns. Soutien à l'émergence supports emerging francophone artists with production funding.
32. CALQ – Creation Grant
