Tom French closes out month one of Campus — previewing a hands on breakdown of his Bay Swag placement

ree

Tonight Tom French joins Campus to close out our first month which highlighted music production, and he’ll be walking students through the story behind his recent production credit on Bay Swag’s Damaged Thoughts. That record dropped in late July 2025 and is part of Bay Swag’s new album.

Tom is listed on the Damaged Thoughts credits as a producer, which makes this session a rare chance to hear straight from someone who’s actually on the paperwork for a current major release.

A little context on the record and Tom

Bay Swag’s Damaged Thoughts features a starry roll call of collaborators across the album, and the project has been covered in outlets talking about the artist’s rise and the record’s guest spots and moments. If you want a deeper look at the album and the way it’s being framed in the press, Rolling Stone ran a feature on the release.

Tom French himself has a track record in hip hop and pop that includes high profile placements and co-productions. He’s frequently described as a multi-platinum producer and sample-maker who has worked on notable tracks for artists like Joyner Lucas and DaBaby, and he shows up on public profiles and interviews discussing his path as a producer. If you want a quick read on his background and previous credits, there are short profiles and interviews that summarize that history.

Why this session matters for Campus students

We built Campus as a live, hands on learning environment because real-time exchange changes how fast you level up. Tonight’s class is not a pre recorded tutorial. It is a working room where you can ask a specific question, follow along as Tom explains choices he made on a track, and hear how a credited producer thinks about a placement. That matters because:

  • You get to hear decisions in context rather than in isolation.

  • You can ask about submission workflows and what to include when you send a record to a label or supervisor.

  • You meet classmates and instructors who could become collaborators or referral sources.

Across this first month of Campus we’ve already seen files shared, follow up conversations started, and direct introductions that led to studio time and collaborations. That community layer is what turns lessons into opportunities.

What to expect tonight

Tom will be breaking down how his contribution sits inside the finished record and talking through the creative choices that helped the song find its place on the project. Come ready with questions and stems if you want feedback. This is exactly the kind of practical, in-room learning that we built Campus for.
