Your Next Music Opportunity Could Start in This Room. Join Us in Vancouver on October 17.
Three industry conversations. One listening party. A room full of music creatives. And an opportunity to build connections that could outlast the weekend.
There is a good chance the person who could help move your music career forward is someone you haven't met yet.
Maybe it's a promoter who could help you understand how to get your first serious show booked.
Maybe it's a producer who hears something in your sound that nobody else has.
Or maybe it's someone who finally explains how music makes its way into television, film, advertising or the American radio market.
The difficult part isn't always finding the right information. Sometimes it's simply getting into the same room as the right people.
On Saturday, October 17, Beatcave is bringing Vancouver's music community together at FFR Creatives for CAMP Vancouver Conference Day.
We're opening the conference to the wider music community, bringing together industry professionals, independent artists, songwriters, producers, engineers and people who want to play a bigger role in Vancouver's music scene.
And you can be part of it for just $29.99.
Three Conversations That Could Change How You Approach Your Music Career
We've built this year's conference around three areas that independent artists constantly ask us about: getting their music heard, getting booked for shows and getting their songs placed in visual media.
Rather than another afternoon of broad industry advice, we're bringing in people who work directly in these businesses.
1. How Do You Break Into U.S. Radio? With Theo Romeo of Discovr Radio
For many independent Canadian artists, expanding into the American market feels like an opportunity reserved for those with major-label budgets and industry connections.
But what if you could test how real radio audiences respond to your music before investing thousands into promotion?
We'll be joined by Theo Romeo, Chief Product and Marketing Officer of Auddia, the company behind Discovr Radio, for a conversation about breaking into the U.S. radio market.
Together, we'll explore how independent artists can access radio-streaming audiences, what listener data can tell you about your music, and how knowing which cities respond to your songs can inform smarter promotional decisions.
Discovr Radio uses technology to introduce independent music to listeners within AM/FM radio streams through the faidr app. That creates another potential avenue for discovery beyond traditional streaming playlists.
For artists who have been relying entirely on Spotify, TikTok and Instagram, this is a chance to understand another side of music promotion.
The goal isn't just to get more people hearing your song. It's to understand who's listening and what to do with that information.
2. The Business of Live Music. With Ester Tóthová of Blueprint Events
You want to perform more.
But how do you actually get onto the right shows?
Who makes booking decisions? What makes an artist attractive to a promoter? And what separates someone who can bring an audience from someone who simply wants an opportunity to perform?
These are the kinds of questions we'll be exploring with Ester Tóthová, promoter and talent buyer at Blueprint Events.
Ester works on shows across British Columbia and Alberta, bringing real experience in the live music business and an understanding of the local scene.
Together with Beatcave co-founder Amber Oosthuyzen, she'll help unpack how the live music business operates, what promoters consider when booking talent, and how artists can better position themselves for performance opportunities.
Whether you're trying to book your first show, expand into another city or build a more sustainable live career, understanding the other side of the booking process matters.
And getting to hear directly from someone who actually books shows is very different from trying to figure it all out through Google.
3. How Music Gets Placed in Film, Television and Advertising. With Andrea Dyck of Nettwerk Music Group
You've probably watched a television series or film and thought:
My music would fit perfectly in a scene like that.
But how does a song actually make it from an artist's catalogue into a production?
We're bringing in Andrea Dyck, Director of Sync & Licensing at Nettwerk Music Group, to help connect those dots.
Andrea has more than 15 years of music industry experience and manages creative pitching strategies and sync administration for Nettwerk's catalogue.
Her work involves helping connect music with opportunities across film, television and advertising.
This conversation will explore what makes music useful for sync licensing, why ownership and metadata matter, and how independent creatives can begin preparing their music for these opportunities.
Because making a great song is only one part of the equation.
Understanding how that song can be discovered, licensed and used is another.
Three different parts of the music business. Three opportunities to learn from people who work inside them.
Then Comes the Listening Party. Where the Music Takes Centre Stage.
For the two days leading up to the conference, CAMP Vancouver participants will be creating music in collaborative writing sessions.
Artists, producers, songwriters and engineers will be working together, sharing ideas and building records with people they may have never met before.
On October 17, we'll bring the community together for the listening party.
This is where you get to experience the creative side of CAMP and hear music coming out of the weekend's sessions.
For artists, it's an opportunity to discover collaborators and hear what other creatives are building.
For producers and engineers, it's a chance to connect with people whose sound and creative approach might complement your own.
And for everyone in the room, it's an opportunity to celebrate the music being created in the Vancouver community.
You might hear a songwriter whose voice would be perfect for your next record.
You might discover a producer who works in a genre you've been trying to explore.
Or you might simply hear something that reminds you why you started making music in the first place.
We believe those moments matter just as much as the conversations onstage.
Vancouver Has the Talent. We're Bringing More of It Together.
One of our favourite parts of hosting CAMP in Vancouver is seeing how far people are willing to travel to connect through music.
This year's CAMP has attracted creatives from 17 different cities and communities, including Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Toronto, Montréal, Calgary, Seattle and beyond.
Some already know the local scene. Others are discovering it for the first time.
And that mix creates something special.
For Vancouver-based creatives, the conference represents a chance to strengthen their local network while meeting people from outside their usual circles.
For those visiting the city, it's an opportunity to discover the talent, energy and relationships that make Vancouver's music community worth investing in.
You can make music by yourself. Building a lasting career usually takes other people.
At Beatcave, we've always believed that community over competition is more than something we say.
It's something we have to create opportunities for people to experience.
That's why we want people to leave this conference with more than notes on their phones.
We want them leaving with new relationships, fresh perspectives and people they're genuinely excited to build with.
You Don't Have to Be Part of the Full Songwriting CAMP to Join Us
We know not everyone can take four days away from work, travel or other responsibilities to participate in CAMP.
That's exactly why we're making the conference accessible separately.
For $29.99 plus the ticket service fee, you can join the conference conversations, connect with the music community and experience the listening party without purchasing the full CAMP pass.
Your ticket also includes food and drinks.
If you've been looking for a way to get more involved in Vancouver's music scene, this is a straightforward place to start.
You don't need a massive following.
You don't need a manager.
You don't need to have everything figured out.
Just come ready to learn, connect and introduce yourself to people.
October 17. One Day. New Possibilities.
There's no guarantee that one conversation will change your career.
But we know that nothing meaningful happens between two people who never get the opportunity to meet.
If you've been saying you need to network more, understand the industry better or finally become more involved in your local music community, consider this your invitation.
